Dan Hovis,
President of Hovis Custom Builders, Inc., who is NE Florida’s premier Green builder,
has opened their exquisite model home in the estate neighborhood of ‘The Crest’
located within the gates of The World Golf Village’s -The King & The Bear.
“This is very
exciting to have the 2008 Showcase home in the St. Johns Builders Council -
Parade of Homes; especially since our model home is not only Green &
eco-friendly but offers innovative energy efficiency that you only hear about
on TV,” said Hovis.
Our Villa Verte
model resembles an old world European country home with open air gardens &
beautiful Live Oak trees with bellowing canopies across the circle driveway
made with specialty RIMA pavers for erosion control. The oversized (3) car garage is located in the rear of the home
completely hidden from the front of the street. (Over 6,000 SF of RIMA pavers were used for this driveway.)
This
home was
constructed with Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF - Steel reinforced
concrete),
light gauge steel framing , Airtight™ Spray Foam Insulation, Solar
Radiant Barriers, and a Geothermal HVAC System, manufactured
by Water Furnace, which uses the earth to heat & cool the house.
This makes outdoor air conditioning fans
& compressors obsolete.
By implementing the
modalities mentioned above, our model home’s utility bills will be
approximately $120.00 per month in the summer and under $90.00 in the winter
for 4,600 SF of living space. (The
total footprint of the home is 5,976 SF.)
Another innovative
product used for this model home was the TAMKO - Metalworks® StoneCrest™ SLATE
Steel Shingles which create a dramatic look that closely replicates the random
finish of natural slate. This product
carries a 50 year warranty and is 100% recyclable. It’s a fabulous way to complete the exterior building envelope.

include Amber Anthony & Brittany Cagle of Fusion Design Group along with
Natalie Beach & Holly Weigmann from Seven Designs. They were instrumental
in the interior finishes, cabinetry & closet designs along with choosing ‘Green’
& eco- friendly products. Our landscaping was
designed & implemented by Rob Weaver, President of Weaver Landscaping with
special guidance & driveway design by Rick Pariani, Chief Landscape
Architect along with assistance from Vanessa Cunningham of the Davidson
Development Corporation.

Florida Plant Friendly guidelines. (It’s important to note;
that over 95% of all
products used in this home were made in the USA.)
